“Mama and Baby” are part of Royal Caribbean International’s 11,000-piece art collection displayed on the ship, and together they weigh approximately 6.5 tons. Martin/Martin designed and detailed the custom-built steel plate skeleton and anchorages for the 33-foot-tall Mama Panda as well as the tube steel skeleton and base connection for the 10-foot-tall Baby Panda. Mama sits on the cruise ship’s Seaplex roof and reaches down to the deck where Baby stands reaching up to her.
