Civil engineering services for survey, predesign, schematic design and design development for replacement of lodging in Canyon Village area of Yellowstone. Project includes new modular lodging buildings, parking, drives, drop-off loop for registration, new entrance road, trails, water quality pond and gathering space. Construction was phased, requiring detailed coordination of utilities, grading and access for the site. Water, sanitary and storm utilities were rebuilt to upsize mains and provide adequate burial to mitigate freezing. Water system replacement included 3,500 LF of 8” waterline and drains for winterization of water system. Elements include consideration for tour bus and fire truck access, turning movements and circulation for new parking; consideration of draining of waterlines for winterization; perimeter drains, underdrains and preservation of trees, wetlands, and views. Effort included due diligence, utilities, cost estimating and Value Analysis/CBA. The project pursued LEED Silver.
