University of Denver Community Commons and Dimond Family Residential Village

Denver, Colorado

This structural, civil, and construction engineering design services for a new 500-bed residence hall. The four-story building features a variety of façade finishes and intricate roof geometry, offering numerous opportunities for innovative design solutions with its interior soffits. The new facility provides essential campus services for the University, including a main dining hall, office spaces for services like world cultures, student activities, and academic resources, as well as indoor assembly areas spanning three main levels and outdoor gathering spaces on terraces and the main roof.
Martin/Martin handled detailed site grading, wet utilities, stormwater management, and on-site water quality and detention. The project required an innovative and urban stormwater design to maximize the use of the allotted campus space. This design included twelve bioretention water quality ponds (rain gardens) and two underground detention systems.
