Building Envelope

The building envelope protects a building’s structure and interior spaces from exterior environmental conditions such as precipitation, humidity and temperature differences. Martin/Martin has a dedicated team of engineers and architects experienced in building envelope investigation, design and construction. When water has infiltrated the exterior building envelope, it becomes one of the leading causes in building failure. Water infiltration results in deterioration, mold, corrosion, and structural damage. When evaluating water damage, we work closely with owners and facility managers to conduct investigations, develop repair designs, prioritize repairs, and observe reconstruction. We have the knowledge and technology to detect and repair thermal transfers and performance issues to mitigate moisture before damage occurs. From our years of experience with repairing old building envelopes, we know what works and what doesn’t work through the building’s life cycle and performance. This knowledge provides a great advantage in our new building design and peer reviews.
