Meeker, Colorado

The project included a major addition to the school and significant renovations to the existing central gym and auditorium space that remained in place to maintain the feel of the existing facility that is a focal point for the community. A new 35,000 square foot, two-story classroom space wraps the south end of the existing auditorium and connects to the new entry spaces. A new, 8,000 square foot commons, administrative office, and secure vestibule was added to the north and west side of the existing gym and auditorium. Glulam beams and exposed deck in the commons tie the existing architecture to the new construction. A new, 12,000 square foot main gym with suspended running track was added to the north side of the facility and constructed with precast concrete. All the additions were carefully detailed to minimize the impact to existing structure while also creating new spaces that seamlessly tie with the existing.
