Discovery Canyon K-12 Campus

Colorado Springs, Colorado

This 3,000-student Pre-K-12 school in the Flying Horse Development in Colorado Springs consists of 375,000 SF on 75 acres and was constructed in three phases. The school includes a theater, gym, and amphitheater. The buildings step up the site, creating a 'canyon' between two wings. Engineering challenges included numerous retaining walls to accommodate the slope change along the length of the three schools, glass block incorporated into the masonry walls to allow light penetration into the building, a steel culvert entry feature, and bridges across the central canyon to connect the wings.
Martin/Martin has also recently completed a gym addition to the school.
