City Park Golf Course Drainage Improvements

Denver, Colorado

We provided civil engineering and stormwater management to support the complete renovation of the golf course to provide an 18-hole regulation design that offers a more efficient layout while integrating detention that provides flood protection to the community, improves water quality, and enhances public space. The project included design and construction of the course, integrated detention, short game/chipping area, driving range, First Tee facilities, putting greens, irrigation, and parking lots.
Our primary tasks included detention pond and pond drainage facilities, sanitary sewer main relocation, coordination of the design of relocated water conduits, plan preparation to lower reuse water main lines, golf course grading, and erosion control/stormwater management plan preparation. The redesign resulted 50% reduction in the 10-year release rate to preserve downstream sewer system capacity. Additionally, the facility has provided an observed reduction in the quantity of trash entering the South Platte River.
