Broadcom Building 4 West Annex & Expansion

Fort Collins, Colorado

This initial project from Broadcom was a cold core and shell structure for future manufacturing capabilities yet to be determined. During the course of the project, the entire building was fitted out to capacity plus an added 8,000 SF clean room. The main fab level provides 35,000 SF of clean room, and the floor is an innovative, 24-inch thick “cheese” slab with 16-inch diameter holes at 2 feet on center. The purpose of the holes is twofold: allow for air to circulate through the floors and out to the return air plenum to meet the clean room specifications, and to allow for process piping to be routed anywhere on the floor. Above the clean room area is an open steel grid fan deck that holds the recirculation fans, air handler units, and thousands of linear feet of ducts and pipes. The steel frame also supports the walkable ceiling above, which contains the HEPA filters and the lighting for the space.
