Adams County Roundabout

Brighton, CO

Martin/Martin led the civil engineering design to replace an existing “T” intersection near the Riverdale Fairgrounds Complex with a new free-flowing roundabout. The roundabout was chosen to provide traffic calming measures to the area and create for a more efficient flow of traffic into and out of the fairgrounds. Due to agricultural lands nearby, the design also accounted for occasional large and low clearance semi-trailer traffic. The eastbound to northbound slip lane was a critical design element, ensuring traffic into the fairgrounds did not impede westbound through traffic. Deliverables included survey, right-of-way (ROW) dedication, utility coordination and relocation, pedestrian facilities and trail connectivity, roadway design plans and technical specifications, and center median artistic features. The project received praise from County Commissioners for a well-coordinated design resulting in early construction completion prior to the fairground's busy summer months.
