LAKEWOOD, COLO. – Martin/Martin, Inc., has named Matt Schlageter, PE, LEED AP, a principal and civil engineer with the firm, as the new leader of the 100-member Civil Department.
The firm Board of Directors appointed Schlageter to head the department in preparation for the retirement of current civil group leader Ray Tuttle, PE, this summer.
Schlageter joined the firm in 1996 and was promoted to principal in 2010. In recent years he has been a co-leader of the company’s large site development group known as Site Solutions.
“Managing Martin/Martin’s Site Solutions team for many years has afforded Matt broad experience in terms of project types for many of Martin/Martin’s key clients,” company President Jack Petersen said. “This experience—combined with close working relationship with the firm principals, service on our Board of Directors, and natural leadership abilities—made Matt a natural choice.”
Schlageter earned his BS in civil engineering from Colorado State University in 1995. For more than two decades at Martin/Martin he has provided master planning, infrastructure, and site development for mixed-use, commercial, and industrial projects with an emphasis on sustainability. Schlageter’s expertise as a leader and innovator is particularly evident at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory campus in Golden where he helped take five NREL projects to LEED Platinum. Other accomplishments include Denver Water Operations Complex redevelopment and multiple, complex projects at the Lockheed Martin Waterton campus.
“As a service company, our objective is to support the long-term needs of our clients and Martin/Martin staff.” Schlageter said. “To continue this commitment as Civil Department manager is both fulfilling and engaging.”
