Stapleton Fellowship Church | Hangar 61
- Client: Colorado Preservation Inc.
Martin/Martin assisted with the remodel of Hangar 61 into the new Stapleton Fellowship Church. Serving as an airplane hangar for over 40 years, this is one of the few remaining structures from the old Stapleton Airport. The building features an innovative thin-shell concrete roof designed by Milo Ketchum- our firm’s founder.
After sitting empty for over a decade, we inspected and designed the preservation needs before the church purchased the building. Afterwards, it took 6 months of renovation to convert the old hangar into a church, which still has the old hangar doors inside. The 14,000 SF building also includes a Terminal Café and Sky Lounge. Civil engineering services for the one acre site included renovations, associated site regrading, utilities, and parking.
