Corporate Responsibility
Engineering with Responsibility: Extending our culture of integrity, service, creativity, and quality to how people are treated, communities are supported where we live and work, and resources are stewarded.
Our People: Together, We Engineer Better
Diversity & Inclusion:
At Martin/Martin, our commitment to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) is central to who we are. The JEDI Committee’s mission is to create a workplace—and broader community—where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed, while continually evaluating and improving our practices. We focus on four key areas: internal policies, education, student outreach, and recruiting.
Our internal policies and education efforts aim to support and retain employees while celebrating diverse perspectives. We regularly recognize cultural moments, host discussions on topics such as implicit bias and generational differences and provide learning opportunities that strengthen communication and inclusivity. We’ve also launched Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to connect and support communities within our firm.
Our student outreach and recruiting efforts center on intentional engagement. We partner with K–12 schools, universities, and community organizations to inspire future engineers and broaden access to the profession. We host externships that provide hands-on experience and support scholarships through industry foundations. Through these efforts, we strive to broaden representation in our profession and help build a more inclusive future for the engineering industry.
Our Community: Rooted Here, Reaching Further
Martin/Martin Gives Back:
Martin/Martin has always recognized our responsibility to be active members of the communities where we live and work. Through our Martin/Martin Gives Back (MMGB) Committee, we partner with local organizations and charities to support housing, education, food security, and other critical needs, while creating easy pathways for employees to get involved. Our corporate program includes paid volunteer hours so team members can contribute their time and talents during the workday, with firm-wide events that build connection inside our offices and out in the community. Together, we’re investing in stronger, more equitable communities and a culture of service that extends beyond our projects.
Our Planet: Designing Today with Tomorrow in Mind
Sustainability:
Martin/Martin integrates sustainability into everything we do; from our own offices to the civil and structural systems we design. Our engineers work together to reduce emissions and protect natural resources through low-carbon structural solutions, thoughtful site and stormwater design, and innovative water reuse strategies that have helped shape policies like Denver’s One Water plan and Colorado’s water reuse laws. As a signatory to the SE 2050 (Structural Engineers 2050) Commitment, we are actively measuring and reducing embodied carbon on our projects using whole-building life cycle assessment tools and data-driven material choices. At our Colorado headquarters, a 70,000 SF rooftop solar array, electric vehicle charging, and office composting reflect the same values we bring to our clients’ projects: high-performance, resilient, and regenerative places for people and the planet.
Our Commitment: Engineered to Endure, Designed to Recover
Resilience:
Resilience is a community’s ability to recover quickly after disruptive events, such as fire, flood, or earthquake. For projects and clients that pursue performance objectives beyond life safety, Martin/Martin incorporates resilient design strategies that can reduce damage, support quicker restoration of function, and improve continuity of operations. These approaches may include enhanced structural detailing, site and civil measures that improve stability, and coordinated planning for efficient repair. Resilience-focused engineering helps communities return to normal operations more quickly and strengthens long-term adaptability. Resilience is engineered purposefully and proactively.
