Structural engineering design services for a $105M, 110,000 SF state of the art engineering facility. The four-story building includes reconfigurable research laboratories with sensitive equipment, student classrooms, a wood shop, material labs, manufacturing labs, collaborative spaces, offices, and meeting rooms. Structural design of the Engineering Education and Research Building (EERB) includes a drilled pier foundation system, composite steel framed floor and roof assemblies, and composite shotcrete on steel deck core shear walls lateral system. Additionally, the design included sensitive equipment vibration analysis, an elaborate exterior wall framing system supporting the stone facade, a feature stair with oversized plate stringers and tensioned cables extending from the ceiling, and glass railings around the four-story atrium, highlighted by exposed tension cables supporting the walkways that connect the east and west wings of the building.
