Martin/Martin provided structural, civil, building envelope, and construction engineering services for a new, state-of-the-art hospital located on 27 acres. The building consists of six levels and 660,000 SF of space, with a helipad, parking garage, and central utility plant. Our team provided building envelope peer review for drawings and specifications during the design development, construction document, and construction administration phases.
The building façade consists of a curtain wall, a metal rain screen, a fiber-reinforced cementitious panel rain screen, a decorative concrete masonry wall, and an aluminum panel system with low-slope PVC roof membrane and manufactured roofing panels. Peer review was performed for these assemblies and the foundation systems, including hygrothermal analysis on other assembly types and junction points during design development. During construction, field observations were performed to review construction against design intent. Testing observations were also provided for the following – water and air testing on both the curtain walls and window fenestrations, air barrier testing on various cladding types, sealant testing, and expansion joint testing. Flood testing and electronic leak detection were also performed and observed by Martin/Martin.
