Identifying and mitigating seismic deficiencies through investigation, analysis, and retrofit design is a service we understand well. As active contributors to national seismic standards and code development, we apply the latest research and best practices to enhance safety, resilience, and compliance for our clients’ facilities in seismically active regions.

Two high-rise buildings show seismic response: left sways with lateral red arrows and dashed envelopes; right on base isolators reduces movement; below, an earthquake epicenter emits concentric shockwaves.

Participation on Seismic Code Committee

Martin/Martin stands out for our active participation on the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7: Minimum Design Loads for Buildings Executive Committee and Seismic Subcommittee. As part of this committee, we aid in the formulation and writing of relevant codes and standards. Of particular interest to this project, we are involved in the proposed provisions regarding sea level rise, along with new seismic provisions which will affect soft-soil and liquifiable sites.
