Medical Center of the Rockies

Loveland, Colorado

The 570,000 SF, 136-bed facility sits on 92 acres. Martin/Martin provided design considerations for security, future expansion, redundant utilities, and road work. The design challenges included phased construction drawings to allow the contractors to move 570,000 yards of soil and install a large amount of underground infrastructure while design was ongoing. Due to the location of the project and adjacent downstream irrigation, the restrictions on stormwater release rates were significantly reduced resulting in extreme detention requirements. The pursuit of LEED Certification allowed for creative and cost-saving approaches to stormwater conveyance.
