UCAR Hangar Roof Investigation

Broomfield, Colorado

Martin/Martin performed a structural engineering investigation on this hangar after a partial roof failure during a high wind event. The hangar’s exposed condition required immediate repairs for employee safety and especially considering the highly sensitive aircraft and scientific monitoring equipment stored inside. Our scope of services included a forensic investigation of the hangar to determine the source of the failure, as well as developing plans to repair and retrofit the structure to prevent future failures in an area known for high winds. Since the suggested repairs were completed, the area has experienced several 90+ MPH wind events with no damage to the hangar; the owners are thrilled with the results.
