I-70/Post Boulevard Interchange

Avon, Colorado

Civil engineering services provided for a new 4-lane divided parkway connecting I-70 with U.S. Highway 6 in Avon, Colorado. Services included conceptual planning and layout, preliminary and final design, as well as construction phase services for approximately 4,000 LF of roadway. The project included roundabouts at 5 major intersections including U.S. 6 and the ramps at I-70. The project was complicated by a grade-separated crossing of the Union Pacific Railroad and a crossing of the Eagle River as well more than 250 feet of profile elevation change. Conveyance of off-site drainage was a major concern as three basins merge together in this area. A cast-in-place energy dissipater was constructed at the outfall to slow flow and improve water quality prior to entering Eagle River. Coordination between CDOT - Region 3, the Town of Avon, the Traer Creek Metropolitan District and Eagle County was extensive.
