Martin/Martin Wins ACEC-CO Engineering Excellence Awards
LAKEWOOD, COLO. – The American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado (ACEC-CO) recognized Martin/Martin with two 2015 Engineering Excellence Awards during a luncheon at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver on Nov. 3. This annual awards competition recognizes outstanding achievements within the engineering community.
The Council presented an Honor Award to Martin/Martin for the Colorado Capitol Dome Exterior Restoration project. The four-year, $14 million project was an intricate blend of historic preservation and restoration that strengthened the dome and improved safety, protection, and maintenance measures. Accepting the award were State Architect Larry Friedberg, on behalf of the State of Colorado, and David Wittman, project manager for Martin/Martin.
Recognized with a Merit Award, was the Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden. This LEED Platinum Certified facility was constructed as the nation’s first building to overcome the challenges of integrating renewable energy into the electrical grid at the speed and scale to meet national Department of Energy (DOE) goals. Those same concepts were incorporated into the very complex, challenging design/build project that is a flagship of the NREL campus. Accepting the award were Bret Cummock, on behalf of NREL, and Matt Schlageter, principal at Martin/Martin.
