Shane McCormick, PE, SE

Principal, Structural Engineering

Shane has more than 15-years of experience in the structural design and management of major projects.  He specializes in large, complex, and technically challenging buildings within the fields of health care, laboratory research, high-rise, and higher education.  Notable projects with Martin/Martin include the DaVita World Headquarters, Auraria Science Building, CSM Brown Hall Engineering Building, and Saint Joseph Hospital Heritage Project.

Prior to joining Martin/Martin in 2005, Shane worked as a project manager and Associate at the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.  There he helped to direct the structural design of multiple major national and international projects including Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago, Burj Khalifa, Changi International Airport Terminal 3, Chicago Millennium Park Jay Pritzker Pavilion, and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Zuckerman Research Center.

Shane also takes special interest in emerging material technologies and monumental art, having worked on projects such as the James Carpenter designed podium screen wall at World Trade Center 7 and the Janet Echelman designed 1.26, a 230’ long demountable fiber net sculpture.  He believes that lessons learned from these projects can drive innovation in conventional building structure design.

In 2001, he participated in the World Trade Center recovery effort in New York, working with local contractors and helping to monitor demolition efforts at the disaster site.

Outside interests include mountain biking, Nordic skiing, alpine skiing, and spending time with family.
