Matthew Schlageter, PE, LEED AP

Principal, Civil Engineering

As one of the principals in the civil site design group, Matt concentrates on government design-build; creative, sustainable LEED and Net-Zero facilities; and private development, commercial and industrial property projects. He has considerable experience with infrastructure design ranging from roadways and utilities to construction administration. His focused, detailed approach and strong communication skills have resulted in highly successful projects for the military, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Lockheed Martin, and medical and higher education campuses, among others. Matt was recently elected on the ACEC Colorado 2015-16 Board of Directors and will be Metro Director.

Matt consistently delivers on projects requiring creative solutions to complex problems. He has helped to take three NREL projects to LEED Platinum. He easily grasps the collective nature of campus development and designs for present as well as future needs. An experienced master planner, Matt works as an integral team member to produce a comprehensive strategy that will lead developments through multi-decade build-outs.

Soft-spoken and inventive, Matt is an engineer who believes the key to successful project management is active listening. He starts with a thorough grasp of his clients’ project desires and then combines client education and technical expertise to skillfully guide a project to fruition.

With Martin/Martin since 1996, Matt gains great satisfaction from the opportunity to craft something new with each project. Balance, he says, is vital in both work and play. To that end, Matt coaches youth sports, is on several sports leagues and relishes time spent with his family.
