Lawrence Kemp, PE, LEED AP

Principal, Structural Engineering

Larry’s project portfolio bears testimony to a long career in both design and construction.  He spent 10 years in the latter category before joining Martin/Martin in 1988 as a subcontractor. He is well known by many repeat clients for design of new and remodel projects constituting precast and prestressed concrete, structural steel, reinforced masonry and composite structural steel/cast-in-place concrete building systems, among others.

For the past several years Larry has concentrated on healthcare and higher education projects. Larry knows that the success of such projects hinges on common elements of understanding the intended use and projected longevity of the building, and knowing the structural demands that the building will undergo.

Clients benefit from Larry’s attention to project budgets, technical engineering skills, and systems expertise. He keeps the commitments he makes and is dedicated to meeting schedules. Larry’s customer service philosophy is simple: provide good quality and give the client what they want and need. Larry works closely with clients to that end, educating and guiding them to ensure a successful project outcome.

Among the many notable projects in Larry’s portfolio is Coors Field in Denver, a $1.2 billion data center, Exempla St. Joseph Hospital and the Colorado Convention Center. Others include the Avaya Communication corporate office building in Westminster, because of its unique, large structure; the Quigg Newton Denver Municipal Auditorium and Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver, an historic building that was gutted and completely renovated; and St. Mary’s Hospital and Lutheran Hospital.

In his leisure time Larry enjoys water skiing, fishing, diving and traveling.
