Gary Thomas, PE

Principal, Civil Engineering

Gary started his first engineering job at age 15 and has been at it ever since. His career with Martin/Martin began in 1974 when the firm was KKBNA. He is a well-rounded civil engineer whose experience encompasses design of dams, water/wastewater systems and large land or community development projects requiring such services as roadways, drainage, utility systems, and water quality.

For 22 years, Gary served as Civil Department Manager. He was the company president from 2006 to 2015. Through these positions and many land development projects, Gary has gained substantial financial feasibility experience, which entails balancing cost effectiveness with fiscal requirements. He enjoys this aspect of the business and says it has made him acutely aware of the cost of doing business.

Gary is an ACEC nationally certified engineering expert witness for infrastructure issues. His involvement in forensic engineering has grown over the years and has given him additional insight into why designs fail and creative solutions that work.

Gary continues to maintain a staunch philosophy of exceeding a client’s expectations through prompt communication, attention to detail, and design excellence. Martin/Martin often acts as a client advocate because the firm regards clients as business partners.

Away from the job, Gary considers himself a frustrated car buff who will never have enough garage space.
