2016 Martin/Martin leadership promotions

Emily Guglielmo, PE, SE, F.SEI, Structural Principal, began her Martin/Martin career in Colorado in 2004, but now manages the firm’s San Francisco Bay Area office in California. She specializes in seismic and wind issues, but overall project experience ranges from stadium and health care facility design to airport improvements. The massive Utah Data Center and the Colorado Mesa University Maverick Center are among her banner projects. Guglielmo was recently honored as a Structural Engineering Institute Fellow and is active with a variety of professional organizations.

David Lovato, PE, Civil Principal, has been with Martin/Martin for nearly 24 years. He has skillfully used his design and project management expertise for a variety of land and site development, public works, and roadway projects. Westminster Promenade and Westminster Boulevard were among prominent projects that shaped Lovato’s early design career. He is currently part of the design team for the redevelopment of both projects. Other career achievements include space-constrained downtown Denver office building projects, and numerous residential subdivisions.

Mark Thornbrough, PE, CFM, Civil Principal, has specialized in land development, major drainage, and public sector projects for Martin/Martin since joining the firm in 1998. He is a Certified Floodplain Manager and has managed numerous floodplain mapping and large storm system projects. Thornbrough’s design team recently completed the City of Aurora Public Safety and Fire Training Center design-build project. Over the long term, he has completed multiple projects for clients including the University of Colorado and National Park Service.

Tonya Major, PE, Structural Associate, began her Martin/Martin career as a structural engineering intern 19 years ago. Known for her strong client relationship skills, she has worked extensively with Lockheed Martin on a number of projects requiring unique design elements. Major’s primary focus includes industrial, office, and tenant finish projects.

Charlie McLean, PE, Structural Associate, has been involved with structural design for the 40-story 1144 15th Street office building and the Colorado Center office/residential complex, both located in Denver. Other primary projects have included the new Colorado State University stadium, and Colorado School of Mines and University of Colorado residence halls. He is accomplished in business development and has been with Martin/Martin for nearly 12 years.

Derek Swanson, PE, SE, Structural Associate, is based in the Martin/Martin Wyoming, Inc., office in Cheyenne. He is registered as both a structural and professional engineer in the state of Wyoming. He has completed a considerable amount of engineering design work for the State of Wyoming, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, University of Wyoming, Laramie County Community College, a number of school districts across the state, and the Wyoming National Guard. Swanson joined the firm in 2000.
